TikTok is spending $100 million to protect its biggest market

China-based ByteDance, the parent organization of internet based life applications TikTok and Helo, on Sunday reported designs to set up a server farm in India. The move comes in the wake of notification being issued by the administration to both the applications looking for clarifications on inquiries with respect to over the top accumulation of information, stockpiling of information and how the applications have moved toward becoming center point of against national exercises.

The legislature has given time till July 22 to the applications to react to a lot of 24 questions. Likewise, the administration is chipping away at an information assurance law, which will make it required for firms to store information of Indians locally.

A couple of days back, the Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM), an associate of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), had required a prohibition on the applications all together ‘to ensure India’s national security and start-up environment’.
